We take packing very seriously, perhaps more seriously than anything else we do (especially web design). So to illustrate that, rather than spending hours building this page, I will instead place a link below to a forum post I made that addresses our packing procedure. PLENTY OF PICS!
The general procedure you will see is the minimum level of packing that any guitar leaving us will have. I call it "Stage One" (aka overkill).
"Stage Two" (S2) is the same as "Stage One" but gets an extra, bigger box with extra padding in that box (aka beyond overkill).
We use S2 if we think it needs it OR if the customer wants it.
If we think it NEEDS S2, we do it at our own time and expense. If a customers WANTS it done it is a 2000 yen extra fee and don't forget the extra shipping costs associated with the extra weight.
General rule of thumb is that we NEVER send out any guitar that is not safely packed.
